OCEAN SCIENCES CENTRE, MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY OF NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

This cold ocean research facility houses laboratories where scientists conduct research related to oceanography, marine ecology and biology, fisheries, aquaculture and biotechnology of cold-ocean systems in the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. The centre’s public education program is offered June to September.  Marine educators guide visitors as they view the resident harp seals, and explore an outdoor touch tank with a variety of local marine life.  With our program partners at Memorial University’s Ocean Sciences Centre, we offer lab-based hands-on educational programs to high school biology classes each fall, and special outreach events such as a travelling touch tank, year-round.
